Transportation

The Blackwell/Tonkawa Municipal Airport

The Airport covers an area of 209 acres (85 ha) at an elevation of 1,030 feet (314 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 17/35 with an asphalt surface measuring 3,501 by 60 feet (1,067 x 18 meters) and is home to 14 aircraft. The Airport supports approximately 2,000 operations annually ranging from Aerial Applicators, Heart Hospital Aircraft, Flight for Life Aircraft, Air Med Helicopters, local EMS, Air Force trainers from Enid, and various flight training schools throughout Oklahoma.


The Airport is equipped with an Automated Weather Observation System on the field that broadcasts the current weather 24 hours a day.

Utilities

Blackwell is served by the Blackwell Municipal Power and the Kay Electric Cooperative.

The Oklahoma Kansas Railroad (OKRR)

The OKRR, formerly ran by the Blackwell Northern Gateway Railroad, is a 37-mile track owned by the Blackwell Industrial Authority and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The railroad runs from Blackwell, Oklahoma north to Wellington Kansas where the line interchanges with the BNSF Railway.


This Railroad serves the Manufacturing and Agriculture industry in the Blackwell Industrial Park and parts of Sumner County, Kansas.
